de cero ( loosely translates to "from scratch")
Finally, upscale Mexican on Randolph Street!
de cero is a modern day taqueria ( taco shop ) offering fresh Mexican cuisine in the heart of the the West Loop. It is conveniently located at 814 W. Randolph Street, just 1 block west of 90/94 expressway on the north side of the street, 1 door east of Redlight.
de cero was created by the co-owners of sushi wabi, Angela M. Hepler- Lee and Susan Traina Thompson. They describe de cero as the first of its kind in Chicago by providing fresh Mexican cuisine in a modern yet casual atmosphere. De cero is widely known for their 15-item taco list such as the grilled ahi tuna taco, rajas roasted pepper, taco, battered shrimp taco with avocado crema, or the braised duck with corn salsa. You can order each separately or opt for a combo platter to share featuring eight of your favorites and three salsas. de cero's specialty drink menu is incredible! It offers a variety of fresh fruit and herb margaritas. The house favorites are the Guava Margarita or the Raspberry Basil Daiquiri. Amelia Briske designed de cero.
Her design goal was to bring out the charm of Mexico with an urban edge for modern American taste. The natural rustic elements coupled with industrial materials set de cero's design apart from any other Mexican Restaurant. No clutter, just simple modern Mexican charm.
Additionally, customers may reserve the private party room for special occasion and margarita parties.
