Capitol Cement Co., Inc. has received a permit for a temporary roadway closure of Fulton Market for one block from Aberdeen to May Streets. They began implementing temporary roadway closures on the morning of Monday, March 25. The current permit runs through the end of the work day on Friday, May 3. The temporary roadway closure would be in effect 24/7 until either the work is complete or until the 1114 West Fulton building facade supports are removed and pedestrians are able to use the north-side sidewalk. With these supports in place, the roadway is not wide enough to maintain one lane of traffic and proceed with the proposed streetscape improvements simultaneously.
Westbound traffic on Fulton Market will be detoured south on Aberdeen, west on Lake, and north on May Streets. The contractor will be required to maintain pedestrian access between Aberdeen and May Streets at all time, as well as to private properties as coordinated with the respective developers and building owners.
We will do our best to keep you posted of the progress. As always, we will have the weekly construction coordination meetings for questions and updates. Weekly meetings take place every Wednesday at 9:00 AM at La Luce (1393 West Lake Street), 2nd floor. The first 20-30 minutes will be open to the community to receive updates and coordinate specific site needs as it relates to the construction. Please contact us with any questions.
