Established in 1991, The West Loop Community Organization (WLCO) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit delegate agency of the City of Chicago. Coordinating public planning, supporting economic development, and cultivating community programming within the West Loop are among our active responsibilities. We provide valuable assistance to area residents and businesses by serving as a liaison to municipal departments, assisting businesses with a variety of licensing and permitting requests, and issuing recommendations on proposed developments in the area.

In partnership with the Office of the Mayor and the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events (DCASE), the Fulton Market Expo (FMX) returns to the West Loop this Saturday, May 4, from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. An official kick-off with City of Chicago officials begins at 10:30 AM, followed by special entertainment and a fashion show from Project Runway contestant Rakan Shams Aldeen. The Fulton Market Expo is our newest market and a pilot program for the effectiveness of the pedestrian-first changes. Its location was chosen for its historical significance: The block was once the headquarters of Chicago’s wholesale meat market, the Fulton Market Wholesale Consortium, and was built for that singular purpose. Its function as the home for the City’s twenty-two butchers and meatpackers defined the Fulton Market brand we know now. So, in many ways, we’re bringing the Market back to Fulton. This is the market's second year, so we're excited for you to come out and be a part of something new!
